Veterinarian
Dr. Ginny Kunch graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997 and has practiced small animal and emergency medicine in several local area clinics. After a few years walkabout in Oregon, Wales and Scotland she's back home to Alaska. Her goal is to use her training to better help pets live the best lives they can and to help families understand their pets needs and conditions to provide optimal care in both illness and good health. She has a special interest in ultrasound imaging.
Veterinarian
Dr. John Knudsen (more commonly know as Dr. John) has been taking care of Anchorage pets since 2013. After graduating with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2012, Dr. John returned to his home town of Cody, Wyoming to practice with his long time mentor where he was able to advance his skills in many surgical procedures. His special interests include surgery and diagnostic ultrasounds. In his free time Dr. John enjoys flying, hunting and generally spending time outdoors, exploring Alaska with his family.
Veterinarian
Dr. Emily Mehlman graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2012. She completed a 1 year rotating internship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she developed her passion for emergency medicine. In 2013 drawn by the beautiful mountains, abundant outdoor recreation and the equally abundant need of veterinarians, Dr. Mehlman and Dr. John moved to Anchorage with their 3 dogs and 1 cat. Dr. Mehlman has a passion for emergency stabilization and investigating medical problems to get pets back on their feet. Her hobbies include backcountry skiing, hiking, triathlons and travelling.
Veterinarian
Dr Cindy Richardson graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 and moved to Alaska in 1995. She is especially interested in all things surgical, urgent care cases and just loves to remove porcupine quills from unfortunate Alaskan pets! She enjoys spending time outdoors with her herd of dogs at her cabin in Sterling and on Alaskas wonderful State Park trails. Dr Richardson also has her hands full raising her twin daughters Amy and Emma. On her days off she can often be found picking up pizza from Mooses Tooth in Anchorage, one of her favorite spots!

Dr. Julie joined us in January 2025. Born and raised in Anchorage Alaska. Dr. Julie received a bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences from Colorado State University in 2009 and then graduated Oregon State University in 2013 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. As if she's not busy enough, Dr. Julie is on the executive board of of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. (The WSAVA) Their mission is to advance the health and welfare of companion animals worldwide through an educated, committed and collaborative global veterinary community. When she's not busy at work seeing patients, or helping with the WSAVA, Dr. Julie can be found in McCarthy working on her families cabin, playing hockey, skiing or just hanging out at home with a good puzzle.
